COMPLETE LIST

Last Updated 11/30/00

12 MONKEYS

One of the slickest future "end of the world movies". A little hard to follow at first, but the images of the world devoid of human life in the beginning and Brad Pitt's Oscar nominated psycho performance draw me in each time. Terry Gilliam (director) is a whacked out man.

13TH WARRIOR, THE

Only complaint I have about this movie is it was too dark, literally, but damn it was cool. Some great lines and the interaction between Antonio Banderas and Vladimir Kulich was classic. Speaking of Vladimir, he was perfectly cast. Good plot, good book, good movie.

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY

Mission to Mars minus the special effects.

A SIMPLE PLAN

This movie blew my socks off and was one of the first DVD's I bought. The acting was superb, the story twisted, and Bill Bob Thornton got ROBBED at the Oscars that year. He was excellent. The cinematography and music added to a dismal atmosphere.

ABYSS, THE (2 Disc Special Edition)

Ahh yes, one I waited a while for, the original movie on DVD, with all deleted scenes restored and the film remastered. Great movie, typical Cameron fair. The 2 Disc collection sports the best menu this side of the matrix, and there is well over 2 hours of additional viewing here.

ALIEN (Special Edition)

I don't need to say anything here. The deleted scenes alone are worth this DVD.

ALIENS (Special Edition)

See above

ALIEN 3

Ok many people hated this movie but I like the atmosphere, and if you are a lover of the series, it's a must add to the four volume set.

ALIENS: Resurrection

Features one of the worst lines in movie history, uttered by none other than Winona Ryder: "Congratulations, you did it. You saved the world." Say what? Well, at least the first half hour was cool.

AMERICAN BEAUTY (Awards Edition)

AMERICAN HISTORY X

ANALYZE THIS

Ok, when I first saw this movie, I thought it sucked, but I watched it again and it was pretty damn funny.

APOCALYPSE NOW (Special Edition)

Oh man this movie kicked ass. I watched the DVD and all the extras on it, and it still just kicks ass. The scenes with Duvall are still some of the best in movie history. And the DVD quality is exceptional.

APOLLO 13 (Special Edition)

This movie more than any other causes me to constantly win Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. The film was good stuff, the capsule scenes were intense and it features some of the best actors in Hollywood.

ARMAGEDDON (2 Disc Criterion Edition)

Hmm, well I'm still mixed on this movie, but damn if I don't watch it every so often, and if you are gonna own it, get this edition The second disc alone is packed with deleted scenes, interviews, and special effects gobbledy gook. The menus for this movie are sweet.

BARRY LYNDON

Still one of Kubrick's best films, the filming (done with no artificial lighting) is great, and the twisted story and watching Barry go from pauper to prince to pauper again is mesmerizing.

BED OF ROSES

Not mine.

BLADE (Platinum Edition)

A great adaptation of the comic, this movie is the dark and serious, and Blade 2 is out next year. The DVD is PACKED, special features about vampires, storyboards, awesome animated menus and alternate endings.

BLAIR WITCH PROJECT

Ok this movie spooked me at first. Had many debates with friends on this one, and the DVD has some good documentary style reports about the goings on.

BOOGIE NIGHTS (Platinum Edition)

One of my favorite all time movies from one of my favorite directors, with an awesome cast of my favorites. The DVD has great deleted scenes, with and without commentary, a link to all songs in the movie. I can watch this one over and over.

BRAVEHEART

Features the most violent 5 minute fight scene in history.

CLERKS (Special Edition)

A classic. Funny and the DVD adds more scenes and fluff. Got it to replace my crappy tape version.

CLOCKWORK ORANGE

CONAN THE BARBARIAN

Man I'm bummed I didn't wait and get the new special edition. But I have watched too many times to invest in this with Braveheart and Magnollia around the corner.

CON AIR

Eh....well it's kinda cool, some good John Malcovich and Steve Busceme, but what was up with Nick Cage's brutal accent? This is a good beer movie.

CRAFT, THE

Witchy movie with it's moments. This was a cheap purchase at Half.Com

CROSS OF IRON

Sam Peckinpah's classic WW2 east front film, gritty and right on target, from the German view. A total anti war statement, and out there somewhere lies a version with no footage deleted. I got it to preserve it forever.

DANCES WITH WOLVES

A classic film, with great cinematography. The whole story unfolds perfectly.

DANGEROUS BEAUTY

Not mine.

DAS BOOT (Directors Cut Deluxe Edition)

The TRUE sub movie. The special edition restores so much extra footage I had to watch over two nigts to truly appreciate it. Great film.

DAZED AND CONFUSED

DELIVERANCE

John Boorman's classic movie, with the best role of Burt Reynold's career (besides Boogie Nights and Longest Yard).

DRACULA

I like this film, I like the dark atmosphere and the opening rocks. It's twisted, evil , and avoids lame Vampire cliches.

ENGLISH PATIENT, THE

Ok, so I own this movie, but I think it's a brilliant film and Ralph Fiennes gives a great performance. I also like the WW2 tie in and the Willem Dafoe parts. Neat to watch Ralph get pissed and turn to the Germans for a plane at the end.

EVENT HORIZON

Hey, it's better than Sphere, and it has Laurence Fishburne and lots of blood and dark sci fi atmosphere.

EXCALIBUR

The one and only movie about King Arthur. My favorite all time movie and the DVD looks crystal clear and the commentary rocks. They don't make em like this anymore. John Boorman (Director) cements his excellence here.

EXORCIST, THE (25th Anniversary Edition)

Whoo boy this movie is messed up. The DVD features some good stuff. If you haven't seen it please leave.

FIRST KNIGHT

I just want to point out I am not responsible for this lame King Arthur rip off movie being in my collection. Man could it get any worse than this perverse twist of  a true legend? Full of every dumb sword movie gimmick for people who don't know their history too well. But hey it has some swords and fighting at least. It still is not as bad as "The 13th Floor."

FOOLS RUSH IN

Hmmm... how did this get here? Well, it's better than First Knight at least.

GATTACA

Awesome awesome movie. The film really sucks you in and the story is great. Superb music and performance by Ethan Hawke and it got Jude Law (Talented Mr. Ripley) noticed.

GLADIATOR

Umm...yeah. One of the best movies ever. If you haven't seen this movie you suck total ass. What the hell is wrong with you, they don't have theatres where you live? DVD rocks with 2 discs, awesome sound. Russell Crowe kicks so much ass in this movie his own mom is afraid of him. Don't rent this movie, buy it.

HEAT

My second all time favorite movie, I took a day off to get this one. Robert DeNiro's best performance short of Raging Bull and GoodFellas. This movie is just incredible and Michael Mann (The Insider) is one of the best director's in Hollywood. Man what a flick. I can't say enough. Features the best movie gun shootout ever filmed (except for maybe the Wild Bunch). Deep, dark characters, a look at both sides of the law.

HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER (Uncut, unrated)

This is a rather obscure movie that had a lot of controversy around it. It features the story of Henry Lee Lucas, supposedly America's most notorious serial killer. Its a very very very disturbing film.

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE

Good vampire flick with one corny moment in which the girl gets her own coffin. But overall a good journey into the evil night. Should have been a longer film but needs a sequel.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE (Uncut Silver Edition)

Well, it's better than watching it cut and gutted on the networks each year.

JACOBS LADDER

Well, this movie affected me deeply and I can only watch it every so often. Features a young Tim Robbins and young Mcaully Culkin. Deeply depressing film, beware.

JAWS (25th Anniversary Edition)

What needs to be said. Good extras on the DVD feature some rare making of footage.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR

Best musical ever.

JURASSIC PARK (Collectors Edition)

KALIFORNIA (Special Edition)

LAST OF THE MOHICANS, THE (Directors Special Edition)

The real "Patriot" movie, my third all time favorite movie. This DVD is done right, all deleted scenes have been reinserted into the movie, making it one of the best ever.

LEFT BEHIND

Movie based on the best selling book of same name. Not as good as book.

LEGENDS OF THE FALL

This movie has a little of everything, including some good World War One scenes. It covers a whole generation and I like those yarns.

LOST BOYS, THE

Keifer Sutherland and his mullet shine in this one.

LOST WORLD, THE (Collectors Edition)

MAD MAX: BEYOND THUNDERDOME

"Two go in, one comes out." Great movie and a must own if you continue the Mad Max series.

MAGNOLIA (Platinum Edition)

MARY POPPINS (Disney Gold Edition)

MATRIX, THE

Best DVD I own.

MEET JOE BLACK

Brad Pitt meet truck. Truck meet Brad Pitt. Always use the crossing lights.

MESSENGER, THE

Interesting adaptation of the Joan of Arc story. Great battle scenes, but why was Dustin Hoffman in this movie? Great performances all around. Great visuals and good directing from Luc Besson (5th Element and the Professional).

MUMMY, THE (Collectors Edition)

Brendan Frasier was over the top in this movie but it had its moments. Good action sequences.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD

Worst DVD I own. But got it cheap. The transfer is horrible and even the voices are out of sync, yet I still watch. Want to can this one and get the collectors edition. Movie rocks.

NO ESCAPE

OUT OF SIGHT (Special Edition)

One of Clooney's finest. Great story, characters, one liners. This movie is great and features an awesome cast. Directed by the same man who did The Limey and Erin Brochovich.

OUTSIDERS, THE

I am not responsible for owning this one. I still don't like it but it launched the careers of many stars.

PAPILLON

This movie was great to get on DVD as my tape was brutal. Great story and thrilling to watch all of McQueen's escape attempts and how he finally gives in to his prison. Dustin Hoffman is excellent.

PATRIOT, THE (Special Edition)

PAYBACK

A quick, violent revenge movie, Mel Gibson is awesome as the bad guy and this movie has some cool scenes and is filmed with faded colors as well. Great look.

PERFECT STORM, THE

"I always get the fish!"

PITCH BLACK (Unrated Director's Cut)

Slick slick slick. Very cool film with cool characters.

PLATOON

Finally re-released and in Dolby 5.1. Sweet.

POSTMAN, THE

Costner made this yarn and got panned, but of course I like it. It features a fantastic performance by Will Patton and some great sweeping moments. The whole movie is a cool journey. But the ending kinda stunk. The book of the same name is a classic.

PRACTICAL MAGIC

Uhhhh.....well it has Nicole Kidman.

PRISONER, THE (SET 1)

Greatest TV show ever. EVER!

PRISONER, THE  (SET 2)

RAN

Akira Kurosawa's flowing Japanese adaptation of King Lear. A beautiful film with sweeping battle scenes and true to historical look and feel. Fantastic.

RAVENOUS

Great story, awesome soundtrack, and raw performances. This movie is twisted and entrancing.

REVENGE

Costner against Columbian drug cartel lord.

RIGHT STUFF, THE

Hey it didn't win best picture for nothing. This movie covers the US Space Project and is just plain is one of the best movies ever made. I could watch it over and over.

ROAD WARRIOR, THE

Mel's classic apocalyptic movie. Made him a star. Great movie with a great cast.

ROBOCOP (Criterion Edition)

This movie is still a great film, and the Criterion Edition does a nice job with plenty of DVD's extras. All the cut scenes are in the film and it's back to its almost X Rating. "I LIKE IT!"

ROLLERBALL

Hey this movie is a timeless classic. Liked it since I first saw it when I was 11. In the year 2018, violence and crime have been totally eliminated from society and given outlet in the brutal blood sport of Rollerball, a high-velocity blend of football, hockey, and motor-cross racing sponsored by the multinational corporations that now control the world following the collapse of traditional politics. James Caan was great in this movie. Kinda lame effects by today's standards, but the action scenes are intense.

RONIN

A good mercenary movie, with some great scenes and one of the best car chase scenes ever by the true master director John Frankenheimer. Good look at how mercenaries do what they do...kill for money. DeNiro plays a great asshole in this movie.

SAVING PRIVATE RYAN (Limited Collectors Edition)

SEVEN YEARS IN TIBET

Well this movie was ok only. Brad Pitt had a terrible fake accent that kinda killed it, but the story was cool. The ending was too sudden. It needed a little more tie up. It was filmed wonderfully though and was interesting to watch. I have seen worse (13th Floor anyone ?).

SHINING, THE

This DVD and movie are one of my must watch every month movies. There is a great making of documentary on here that features a pouting, upset Shelley Duval with Jack Nicholson giving her shit that is worth the price alone. Jack is awesome.

SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (Criterion Edition)

SIXTH SENSE, THE

This movie was truly depressing. Excellent film. The DVD has loads of good stuff on it that explain enough so that you have to watch it again.

SLEEPY HOLLOW

Tim Burton's finest since Batman. Great look and feel and some truly gruesome scenes, even though it strays from the book.

SOLDIER

It's sci fi, it has a good story, and Kurt Russell kicks everyone's ass. Nuff said. Also has one of the best ending man on man fight scenes.(Although the whole knife in the head scene in Under Siege was pretty cool.)

SPHERE (Special Edition)

Brutal. I am not responsible for this one. The first hour was ok. It was still better than "The 13th Floor."

STALINGRAD

A German made war film about the battle of Stalingrad. Terrific and gruesome.

STARSHIP TROOPERS (Special Edition)

The first DVD I bought. Yeah, it's a little campy (some of it intentionally so) but man is it fun to watch. Some great sci fi battle scenes. And the DVD is LOUD. This movie at my friend's house convinced me I had to get a DVD player.

STIGMATA (Special Edition)

Didn't like this one. Not responsible for this one, still a lame Exorcist rip off.

TAXI DRIVER (Collectors Edition)

THING, THE

This movie is one of the best sci fi flicks ever. Great lines, good special effects for its time (1981) and the DVD adds alot of deleted scenes and whole documentaries and Kurt Russell commentary with John Carpenter. You can beat that.

THIN RED LINE, THE

Awesomely filmed and looking movie, good deep thought narrations, Nick Nolte rocks here. Has some of the darkest combat scenes ever with a shifting, hidden enemy. The sound on this DVD is incredible.

THOMAS CROWNE AFFAIR, THE

Sit back and watch Pierce Brosnan spend his cash. Good thief movie. He and Russo make this film with their cat and mouse encounters.

THREE KINGS

This movie got robbed at the Oscars as well, and started the Clooney - Wahlberg movie fest that ended up in Perfect Storm, which was awesome. Great film process to this one. It was directed in a very cool manner and had great characters. The DVD is loaded with great stuff, this movie is one of my favorites. If you haven't seen it, go rent it now.

TITAN A.E.

It's no Heavy Metal, but damn it's fun to watch.

WALKING WITH THE DINOSAURS (2 disc PBS Edition)

I was so surprised by the quality of this DVD and the amazing look of this movie I have to move it up to the top of my movie list. I still watch it alot and it is just incredible. Packed with cool features and just a stunning look at life back when the big lizards ruled the planet.

WATERWORLD

Hmm...well....??? Got me here, it has its moments.

X-FILES: FIGHT THE FUTURE, THE

The official X-Files movie. Good stuff, if you are a fan.

X-FILES: SEASON ONE (Collectors Edition, 7 Disc Set)

X-MEN (Special Edition)

YOU'VE GOT MAIL

I like this movie cause I'm a geek, and if I have to watch a love story, it had damn well better have the internet in it. And it's better than that Sleepless in Seattle crap. The characters are at least jerks and the cast is good. When Hanks shows up to his boat and his Dad is moving back in after another failed marriage, that is funny stuff.
